New Moon

There’s something about the way the streets look
when the air hasn’t cooled
and dawn comes the wrong way around.

There’s something about hailing a cab
in last night’s dress
when the only cars on the road are cabs.

There’s something about watching the streets go by
when you’ve taken things into yourself
that you haven’t in years.

There’s something about arriving home
in the full morning light
and not regretting a thing.

It's late, and I'm not sure whom else to tell--another great Canadian smoker goes down: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050808/ap_on_en_tv/obit_jennings

Yes, I heard the news several hours ago. Jennings was by far my favourite network anchor, not only because he smoked, but also because neo-cons denounced him as a communist. He will be missed.
